               Piercing Aftercare

We recommend that any fresh piercing should be cleaned
with a saline solution, either Saline contact lens cleaner, or you can make your
                                                    own, by boiling a
pint of water and adding a half teaspoon of salt.
Disolve the salt, and, when cool, use this to clean piercing.

                                                    Clean piercing
3 - 4 times a day. It is possible to over clean a piercing, so try
and find what woks best for you.
Clean piercing in the morning, being careful if dislodging any hardened lymph
                                                    (Scabby hits).
Clean piercing after bathing or showering, to remove any soap residue.
                                                       - Oral piercings, drink plenty of cold water.
                                                       - Oral piercings, use Ibuprofen, as directed during your aftercare speech. Do
                                                          not use Paracetamol, Aspirin, Disprin...

Most piercing, during the healing period, will ooze pus and the area
                                                     may be slightly inflamed looking.
This is normal during healing, and is a
good indication of when you should be cleaning your piercing.
For precise times, refer to the aftercare speech given after your piercing.
It is important that you do your best for your piercing.

Avoid swimming, sunbeds, etc, for at least 6 - 8 weeks and always clean thoroughly afterwards
until your piercing is fully healed.
Avoid cleaning with TCP, Surgical spirits, etc.
If you decide to use any essential oils, make sure they are well diluted.
For oral piercing, avoid alcohol and amphetamines, at least until you have your jewellery
                           changed.

Do not wear restrictive clothing over the piercing as this can cause migration, and in extreme
                           cases, rejection.
Try to steer clear of inferior metals, silver, pewter, gold plated, as these will have a detrimental
                           effect on your piercing.
Jewellery can be bought from a wide variety of sources now, some better than others, if you are
buying jewellery elsewhere, be sure to examine it, make sure it has no scratches or blemishes,
